A new round of technological revolution represented by the Internet, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and others is now triggering profound changes in the global manufacturing industry. As an epitome of traditional manufacturing, the auto industry is entering an unprecedented period of change.
On November 8, in the China 2020 Wisdom • Win New-generation Auto Electronics Summit Forum, Chery exhibits a batch of Black Technology achievements in the form of road show, making Chery once again become the focus of the auto industry and the scientific and technological innovation industry.
The said 6 projects are industry-university-research collaboration projects, i.e. big data public opinion analysis platform, smart cockpit system, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle and test platform, multi-material integration new-energy vehicle lightweight platform, distributed electric drive system, intelligent wire control. All of them are in a leading position in the industry.
Taking Multi-material Integration New-energy Vehicle Lightweight Technology R&D and Industrial Application as an example, the project implements large-scale industrial application of the aluminum alloy auto parts (body frame, front bumper beam, control arm, steering knuckle, etc.), the application and research of magnesium alloy auto parts (hubs, CCB, battery lower shell, steering column, etc.), the application technology development capacity reserve of carbon fiber composite auto parts (hood) , so as to realize the vehicle weight loss of about 100 kg. The aluminum alloy body frame, front bumper beam, control arm, steering knuckle and other components developed by the project have been applied to Chery vehicles and will be further promoted in the future.
As for hydrogen energy, the Fuel-cell Vehicle and Key Technology Development Project of Chery achieved great achievements. As a pioneer in China’s energy saving and new-energy vehicles, Chery has successfully developed the fourth generation of fuel-cell vehicles. On this basis, the project team has developed ARRIZO 5. The hydrogenation only takes 3 minutes while the endurance is up to 700 km. Chery has mastered the core technical capabilities of fuel-cell passenger vehicle integration and matching technology, fuel-cell vehicle energy management strategy development, and fuel-cell vehicle control strategy research and development.
In addition, the full wire control chassis system of this release supports two advanced functions: wire control, and wire control steering. The brake-by-wire system has the characteristics of fast response speed and short pressure building time. When the system fails, the mechanical backup braking capacity can be used to realize vehicle deceleration, which is significantly better than the national standard. The steer-by-wire system has fast response speed and short execution time, which can meet the requirements of high-level automatic driving. The brake-by-wire system has been calibrated and verified, and it is ready to be matched on some Chery models. The prototype development and installation verification of the steer-by-wire system have also been completed. In the future, the system will be further improved and promoted to the market with the help of the full wire control chassis project.
The display of the six major industrial projects not only represents Chery’s deep accumulation of technological innovation over the past 20 years, but also Chery’s advance layout of forward-looking technologies for future automobiles.
